GAME DAY TID-BITS

• Minnesota is back in action at the Barn, hosting Indiana University on Saturday evening.
• The Gophers are 4-6 in Big Ten action, with a 3-2 mark at home in conference play.
• This is the lone meeting this season with the Hoosiers. The teams split the series last season, with the Gophers knocking off then-No. 1 Indiana at the Barn on Feb. 26.
• Minnesota leads the league in steals per game (8.3), is second in free throw percentage (.746), and ranks fourth in three-pointers made per game (7.2) and assists (14.4).
• The Gophers are coming off a three-overtime heartbreaker at Purdue on Wednesday night. It was just the fifth time in school history that Minnesota played a game with three or more overtimes (including a home win over Iowa in 1994 that was later vacated).
• With his career night of 18 points and nine rebounds against Wisconsin, junior forward Maurice Walker became the sixth different Gopher to lead the team in scoring during a game this season. He had been averaging 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this season prior to the Jan. 22 win over the Badgers. Walker is the team's leading scorer (14.3 ppg) and rebounder (6.0 rpg) over the last four games, including a team-high 17 points versus the Boilermakers on Wednesday night.
• Last month, Minnesota concluded a stretch of four-straight games against opponents in the Top 15 of the Associated Press poll. It has happened just once before, when in 1987, the Gophers fell to #4 Iowa, #11 Illinois, #7 Purdue, and #2 Indiana in succession. The Gophers were 2-2 this year during the four-game test.
• Two of the Gophers' transfers, guards DeAndre Mathieu and Malik Smith, have played integral roles in the team's success this season. Behind top scorer Andre Hollins, Mathieu and Smith are second and third on the team in scoring in B1G games, averaging 11.8 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Smith is the team's top 3-point and free-throw shooter while Mathieu leads the Gophers in assists (99).
