Six extra-base hits helped the University of Minnesota (23-19) baseball team notch a 10-0 win against Augsburg on Tuesday at Siebert Field. Four Golden Gophers pitchers combined to shut out the Auggies (12-23).

Matt Stemper hit 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Dan Motl hit 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run and two RBIs. Tony Skjefte and Mark Tatera had two hits each as Minnesota tallied 14 overall.

Tatera scored the first run of the ballgame after he hit a triple in the second. Bobby Juan's double drove him in, and Juan scored on a wild pitch to give the Gophers a 2-0 lead.

Minnesota sent 10 batters to the plate in the fourth and added six runs to its lead on five hits. The inning included a two-run double by Motl and a two-run single by Skjefte that stretched the Gophers' advantage to 8-0.

Starter Tyler Hanson pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out two batters. He earned the win to move to 3-0, after completing a predetermined length of an outing.

Hanson's fellow freshmen, Matt Fiedler and Brian Glowicki, pitched 2 1/3 innings apiece. Each struck out two batters. Fiedler allowed one hit and two walks, and Glowicki allowed three hits. Dalton Sawyer finished the game.

Minnesota plated one run each in the sixth and the seventh innings. The Auggies' only inning with more than one hit was the eighth. They totaled seven hits on the evening. Starter Jordan Brandt (0-2) was charged with the loss after two innings.

The Gophers will host Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday night at 6:35. The game will be streamed through Gopher All-Access/Big Ten Digital Network.
