Women's Hockey to Host Media Day Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 1 Minnesota women's hockey team will hold its annual media day Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the Ridder Arena Club Room. Head coach Brad Frost and select women's hockey players will be available to the media to preview the 2014-15 season.
The press conference will begin at 1:45 p.m., following Gopher volleyball's weekly media availability.
Frost and select players will speak to the media and take questions. Additional players will be available after the press conference and before the team's practice, which begins at 4 p.m. Practice will be open to the media. Media should contact Mandy Hansen to request specific player availability.
Gophersports.com will provide a complete recap of media day, including video footage. The event will not be streamed live.
The Gophers earned the No. 1 national ranking in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason polls and were selected as the WCHA preseason favorite. Junior forward Hannah Brandt was named the league's preseason player of the year as well.
Minnesota opens the 2014-15 season by hosting Penn State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3. The Gophers then face Boston University at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. The season-opening weekend at Ridder Arena also includes St. Cloud State taking on BU at 4 p.m. Friday and the Huskies facing the Nittany Lions at 4 p.m. Saturday.
