GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota returns to the Twin Cities on Tuesday evening, hosting rival Iowa in the Gophers' second B1G home game.
• The Gophers are looking for their first B1G win of the season, most recently falling by five, 62-57, at Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
• Iowa is 2-1 in conference play, falling at home to Michigan State its last time out.
• With 12 points last week against the Buckeyes, senior Andre Hollins surpassed the 1,500-point mark in his career, the seventh Gopher to do so. He is the only Gopher with 1,500 points and 300 career assists.
• The Gophers have found success against the Hawkeyes recently when playing at the Barn. Minnesota has won five of its last six home games against Iowa, including last year's 95-89 win on Feb. 25.
• Minnesota finished its non-conference schedule with an 11-2 record, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. It is the fourth straight season the Gophers posted a perfect home non-conference record.
• The Gophers earned three B1G weekly awards in December: guard Nate Mason was named the Freshman of the Week (12/22), while the Gophers earned back-to-back Player of the Week awards: Andre Hollins (12/8) and Maurice Walker (12/15).
• As of Jan. 12, the Gophers are second nationally in steals per game (11.4), fourth in assists (18.1), ranking first and second among Big Ten schools in those categories, respectively. Senior Maurice Walker is 10th in the nation in field goal shooting (.614) while senior DeAndre Mathieu is 12th nationally in steals per game (2.53).
• Mathieu leads the B1G in steals and is third in assists. Senior Maurice Walker is third in field goal shooting (.614). Freshman Nate Mason's 45.5-percent 3-point shooting ranks fifth and he is fourth in steals (2.1), right behind junior Carlos Morris's 2.2 steals per game which ranks third.
• In Big Ten play, Walker is averaging a team-high 14 points and nine rebounds per game, figures which rank 15th and third, respectively.
