Gopher Sports: Why did you decide to attend the University of Minnesota?
Andrew Hartbarger: I had many resources helping me through the process, some of the best advice that I received was that 'when you know what is right, you'll know'. I took several other recruiting trips to other schools and at Minnesota I knew. Between team, school, staff, facilities, etc. we have it all.
GS: What is your most memorable swimming mome nt?
AH: When I made my first Olympic trial qualifying time. My long course swimming improved tremendously when I came to Minnesota.
GS: What is your favorite part of being a Golden Gopher?
AH: I believe the opportunity and drive that we have as a team is the best part. I always feel like we are on the rise and that we have so much potential to realize. We have a team of extremely talented and ambitious individuals, the best part is when we have the opportunity to do something great and we are able to capitalize. We are a team that climbs, contributing to that growth as we move toward the top is the best part because I always feel that we have something to prove.
GS: What is your favorite pre-race song?
AH: Normally don't listen to music before my races, but when I do anything Lil Wayne or ASAP Rocky.
GS: What is the best advice you have received from one of the coaches at Minnesota?
AH: Focus on the process, keep the focus on that and the outcome will take care of itself.
GS: What is your dream job?
AH: Management Consultant
GS: What is your favorite post-meet meal?
AH: Ribeye steak grilled by my dad (or anything grilled by my dad).
GS: Do you have any other hobbies outside of swimming?
AH: Hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, SUP.
GS: What do you plan on doing after graduation?
AH: Move into an internship/full time position to help gain experience as an analyst or in a finance related career.
GS: Want to give a shout out to anyone?
AH: My brothers Timothy and Tyler, my parents Paula and Jerry, and my boys from back home that I know will never read this.
