GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota continues a two-game Big Ten road trip on Saturday at 12th-ranked Maryland.
• The Gophers snapped an eight-game winning streak on Tuesday with a 72-68 defeat at Purdue.
• Minnesota finished its non-conference schedule with an 11-2 record, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. It is the fourth straight season the Gophers posted a perfect home non-conference record.
• Maryland is 1-0 in its first season of Big Ten play after a double-overtime victory at Michigan State on Tuesday.
• The Gophers earned three B1G weekly awards in December: guard Nate Mason was named the Freshman of the Week (12/22), while the Gophers earned back-to-back Player of the Week awards: Andre Hollins (12/8) and Maurice Walker (12/15).
• In the loss at Purdue, the Gophers also snapped a seven-game streak of 80-plus points scored, tying a school record accomplished over a seven game stretch in Feb.-Mar. 1966.\
• Senior Andre Hollins is just six points away from joining the Gophers' 1,500-point club. Sitting at 1,494 career points, Hollins can become the seventh Gopher to ever reach 1,500 points, and he will be the only player in school history with that many points and more than 300 career assists.
• As of Jan. 2, the Gophers are second nationally in assists (19.9) and steals per game (11.9) and fourth in turnover margin (+6.6). Senior DeAndre Mathieu is 12th nationally in steals per game (2.64) and 13th in assists per game (6.2).
• Minnesota leads the Big Ten Conference in all three of those categories along with 3-point shooting (.424), and is third in scoring margin (+17.1) and field goal percentage (.495).
• Mathieu leads the B1G in steals and is second in assists. Senior Maurice Walker is third in field goal shooting (.654). Freshman Nate Mason's 50-percent 3-point shooting ranks second and he is third in steals (2.4), while senior Andre Hollins ranks fourth in 3-point shooting (.471).
