The University of Minnesota volleyball team and Point U! Booster Club held its annual postseason awards banquet, Saturday morning at TCF Bank Stadium. The Gopher volleyball staff, student-athletes and supporters attended the event, which began at 11 a.m.

After a welcome and introduction by Point U! Booster Club President Katie Harms, the event began with a lunch, followed by remarks from senior associate athletics director Beth Goetz and emcee Matt Nelson. Following lunch, head coach Hugh McCutcheon also spoke to the group and thanked them for their support.

Awards were presented to members of the team, which started out with the rookies earning their first letter and their U of M letter jacket (Maddie Beal, Alyssa Goehner, Molly Lohman, Carly Rasmussen and Dalianliz Rosado). Erica Handley, who transferred to Minnesota and completed her first year of Gopher competition, also received a letter and led the group in a spirited Minnesota rouser. Along with some individuals receiving their first letter, two individuals, Morgan Bohl and Adrianna Nora, were given their senior pins and were named official alums of the University of Minnesota.

Minnesota announced two Most Valuable Players for the 2014 season in Daly Santana and Paige Tapp. Tapp was named a third-team All-American, while Santana was named an All-American honorable mention. Tapp was also named All-Big Ten, while Santana garnered honorable mention accolades.

Paige Tapp also received the Point U! Boosters Award. The award goes to the player who demonstrates a positive attitude during competition, on and off the court, as well as promoting a positive image for the University of Minnesota. Also the recipient of the Team Academic Award, Tapp was also a standout student as she holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.864 and is in a pre-major of the Carlson School of Management. She and her sister, Hannah Tapp, were Capital One Academic All-District honorees, announced earlier this year. Along with the Tapps, Bohl, Katie Schau and Sarah Wilhite were presented with their Academic All-Big Ten awards. As a team, the Gophers held a 3.3 team GPA.

Carly Rasmussen received the Gold Country Award, which was given to the student-athlete who had the highest GPA last fall. In her first semester at Minnesota, Rasmussen hauled in a 3.9 GPA. She also received the Maurice Batie Award, which goes to the student-athlete who best exemplifies a good teammate. Senior manager Amanda Nosbush also received recognition for her three-year commitment to Gopher Volleyball.
