GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota hosts Ohio State on Tuesday night in the Gophers' first Big Ten home game of the 2014-15 campaign.
• The Gophers are looking for their first B1G win following road losses at Purdue and Maryland to begin conference play.
• Ohio State is .500 in conference, defeating Illinois by 16 after falling at home to Iowa. Tuesday marks the Buckeyes' first B1G road game.
• Minnesota finished its non-conference schedule with an 11-2 record, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. It is the fourth straight season the Gophers posted a perfect home non-conference record.
• The Gophers earned three B1G weekly awards in December: guard Nate Mason was named the Freshman of the Week (12/22), while the Gophers earned back-to-back Player of the Week awards: Andre Hollins (12/8) and Maurice Walker (12/15).
• In the loss at Purdue, the Gophers also snapped a seven-game streak of 80-plus points scored, tying a school record accomplished over a seven game stretch in Feb.-Mar. 1966.
• Senior Andre Hollins is just four points away from joining the Gophers' 1,500-point club. Sitting at 1,494 career points, Hollins can become the seventh Gopher to ever reach 1,500 points, and he will be the only player in school history with that many points and more than 300 career assists.
• As of Jan. 5, the Gophers are second nationally in steals per game (11.7), third in assists (18.9) and fourth in turnover margin (+6.7) (B1G: 1st in all three). Senior Maurice Walker ranks seventh in the country in field goal shooting (63.9 percent) while senior DeAndre Mathieu is 12th nationally in steals per game (2.53) and 13th in assists per game (6.2).
• Mathieu leads the B1G in steals and is third in assists. Walker is second in field goal shooting. Freshman Nate Mason's 48-percent 3-point shooting ranks third and he is third in steals (2.3).
