Day Two at Four Nations Cup

MINNEAPOLIS - Preliminary round action continued at the 2015 Four Nations Cup Thursday as the United States defeated Canada, 3-0, and Finland defeated Sweden, 3-1. Four Gophers took the ice for their respective countries.

Finland, 3, Sweden 1

Finland defeated Sweden, 3-1, on Thursday behind goals from Susanna Tapani, Rosa Lindstedt and Michelle Karvinen. Mira Jalosuo was not in the lineup for Finland, and Noora Räty served as back-up to Meeri Räisänen, who made 21 saves, as Finland improved to 1-1 in preliminary round play. With the loss, Sweden fell to 0-2 at the Four Nations Cup.

United States 3, Canada 0

Alum Megan Bozek scored the second goal of the game for the U.S., and fellow alum Gigi Marvin helped the Red, White and Blue shut out Canada in a 3-0 win. The U.S. remains undefeated in preliminary round play after a 6-2 win over Sweden on Wednesday.

Four Gophers faced off in the game as Sarah Potomak and Sarah Davis were both in the lineup for Canada against Bozek, Marvin and the United States. Anne Schleper was not in U.S. lineup.

The Four Nations Cup runs Wednesday through Sunday with three days of preliminary games to determine the gold and bronze-medal game matchups on Sunday.
