GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota opens a February road swing on Thursday night at Iowa, starting a stretch where four of its next five games are away from the Twin Cities.
• The Gophers have won four straight home games, including last Saturday's 62-58 victory over Purdue, their second straight victory overall.
• Iowa has won two straight including a 71-55 home win over Maryland.
• Minnesota's 18-point win over the Cornhuskers represented its largest B1G margin of victory since defeating Penn State in the 2014 regular season finale, 81-63.
• The 42 points allowed was the lowest total in Richard Pitino's tenure with the Maroon and Gold and the fewest in B1G play since defeating Illinois, 59-36, on Jan. 29, 2009.
• Minnesota has dropped six of its seven conference losses by five points or fewer. The Gophers last suffered six losses by that margin in the 1983-84 season.
• Senior Andre Hollins broke out for 31 points in the win over Rutgers, tying a career-high with seven 3-pointers. It is his second-highest career scoring game (41 vs. Memphis) and the highest in B1G play. He followed it up at Nebraska with his second career double-double (21 pts., 11 reb.) and a game-high 28 points against the Illini. Hollins is averaging 21.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in his last six contests (54.4 FG%, 55.6 3FG%). Hollins is the only Gopher with over 1,500 career points and 300 career assists.
• As of Feb. 10, the Gophers are second in the nation in steals per game (10.8) and fourth in turnover margin (5.3), leading the Big Ten in those categories. Minnesota is 10th in Division I in assists per game (17.0). DeAndre Mathieu is 16th nationally in steals (2.21) while Andre Hollins is 15th in 3-point shooting (43.9).
• Mathieu leads the B1G in steals while senior Maurice Walker is second in field goal shooting (.595). Junior Carlos Morris (2.2) and freshman Nate Mason (2.1) are second and third in steals, respectively.. Andre Hollins is 12th in scoring among conference players at 14.6 points per game.
• In Big Ten play, Hollins is averaging a team high 15.7 points per game (B1G: 6th) while Walker is averaging a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game, placing him third in the conference.
