GAME DAY TID-BITS

• Minnesota closes out the road portion of the 2014-15 regular season when it travels to Michigan State on Thursday, the Gophers only date with the Spartans this year.

• Michigan State is winners of four straight, most recently a 60-53 road win over Illinois on Sunday.

• Senior Andre Hollins jumped two spots up the Gophers career scoring list on Wednesday, passing Kevin McHale and Sam Jacobson. Hollins now sits in fourth with 1,717 points, needing 60 points to tie Randy Breuer for third in the record books.

• Hollins is averaging 18.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in his last 10 contests (49.2 FG%, 47.2 3FG%). On Feb. 15 against the Hoosiers, he posted his eighth 20-point game of the season with a team-high 23 points.

• Over the last eight games, senior point guard DeAndre Mathieu has dished 22 assists with just three turnovers, an assist/turnover ratio of +7.3.

• Hollins broke out for 31 points in the win over Rutgers, tying a career-high with seven 3-pointers. It is his second-highest career scoring game (41 vs. Memphis) and the highest in B1G play. He followed it up at Nebraska with his second career double-double (21 pts., 11 reb.) and a game-high 28 points against the Illini. Hollins is the only Gopher with over 1,500 career points and 300 career assists.

• As of Feb. 24, the Gophers are third in the nation in steals per game (10.1) and fourth in turnover margin (5.1), leading the Big Ten in those categories. Minnesota is 15th in Division I in assists per game (15.9). DeAndre Mathieu is 24th nationally in steals (2.07) while Andre Hollins is 25th in 3-point shooting (.423).

• Mathieu leads the B1G in steals and senior Maurice Walker is third in field goal shooting (.577). Junior Carlos Morris (1.9) and freshman Nate Mason (1.9) are second and third in steals, respectively. Andre Hollins is 11th in scoring among conference players at 14.6 points per game.

• In Big Ten play, Hollins is averaging a team high 15.3 points per game (B1G: 7th) while Walker is posting a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game (B1G: 6th) and 1.9 steals per game in B1G games, leading the Big Ten.
