GAME DAY TID-BITS

• Minnesota returns to action after a midweek bye, welcoming Purdue in their second meeting of the season.

• The Gophers have won three straight home games, including last Saturday's 60-42 victory over Nebraska.

• Purdue knocked off No. 21/18 Ohio State in West Lafayette, 60-58, on Wednesday night.

• Minnesota's 18-point win over the Cornhuskers represented its largest B1G margin of victory since defeating Penn State in the 2014 regular season finale, 81-63.

• The 42 points allowed was the lowest total in Richard Pitino's tenure with the Maroon and Gold and the fewest in B1G play since defeating Illinois, 59-36, on Jan. 29, 2009.

• Minnesota has dropped six of its seven conference losses by five points or fewer. The Gophers last suffered six losses by that margin in the 1983-84 season.

• Senior Andre Hollins broke out for 31 points in the win over the Scarlet Knights, tying a career-high with seven 3-pointers. It is his second-highest career scoring game (41 vs. Memphis) and the highest in B1G play. He followed it up at Nebraska with his second career double-double (21 pts., 11 reb.) and a game-high 28 points against the Illini. Hollins is averaging 21.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in his last five contests (56.1 FG%, 57.9 3FG%). Hollins is the only Gopher with over 1,500 career points and 300 career assists.

• As of Feb. 5, the Gophers are second nationally in steals per game (10.6) and sixth in assists (17.1), ranking first and second among Big Ten schools in those categories, respectively. Minnesota is eighth in Division I in turnover margin (+4.9). Nate Mason and DeAndre Mathieu are tied for 21st nationally in steals (2.17).

• The duo leads the B1G in steals while senior Mathieu is fourth in assists (4.9). Senior Maurice Walker is third in field goal shooting (.593). Junior Carlos Morris (2.0) is third among B1G players in steals. Andre Hollins is 13th in scoring among conference players at 14.5 points per game.

• In Big Ten play, Hollins is averaging a team high 15.5 points per game (B1G: 6th) while Walker is averaging a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game, placing him third in the conference.
