MINNEAPOLIS - Two Golden Gopher alums, Kelly Terry and Sarah Davis, have been named to Canada's National Women's Team and will compete in the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship from March 28-April 4 in Malmo, Sweden.

The 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship is the 16th since the tournament's 1990 inception. Canada's National Women's Team has appeared in every world championship gold medal game, winning 10 gold medals (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2012) and five silver (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013).

Davis and Terry are among the 10 members of the 23-athlete roster who are competing for their first IIHF Women's World Championship. Both Davis and Terry also won a gold medal with Canada's National Women's Development Team at the 2015 Nations Cup in Fussen, Germany.

The two Gopher alums are two of the 13 forwards on the team. The rest of the roster is made up of seven defensemen and three goaltenders. The roster was selected by Melody Davidson, general manager of national women's team programs for Hockey Canada, along with head coach Doug Derraugh, assistant coaches Tim Bothwell and Dwayne Gylywoychuk, goaltending consultant Joe Johnston and Hockey Canada's team of regional scouts.

Canada will begin the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship with preliminary games against the United States on March 28 at 10 a.m. CT, before facing Russia on March 29 and Finland on March 31. The semifinals are scheduled for April 3, with the gold and bronze medal games taking place on April 4.

Along with Davis and Terry skating for Canada, four current and former Gophers have been named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the tournament. Current Gophers Hannah Brandt, Dani Cameranesi and Lee Stecklein and Minnesota alum Anne Schleper will represent the Red, White and Blue in Malmo, Sweden.
