For the first time in decades, and the first time ever in Fort Myers, Fla., the Golden Gophers and the Twins will play each other in an exhibition game. The game on March 4 will serve as a celebration of Minnesota baseball and the ties between the two teams. First pitch at Hammond Stadium is set for 6:05 p.m. CST.

THE SERIES
The Twins and Gophers plan to play an exhibition game every other year. The teams have not faced each other since April 1987, a game the Twins won 11-0 at the Metrodome.
MOLITOR AND ANDERSON - Molitor Hiring (Nov. 3-4, 2014) | Anderson Bio
First-year Twins manager Paul Molitor and Gophers 34th-year head coach John Anderson were teammates at the U in the 1970s before taking the next steps in their baseball playing and coaching careers. Whether working on the Siebert Field Legacy Campaign, participating in Pro Alumni Games at the Metrodome, tracking each other's careers or just asking about each other's families, the two have stayed in contact for the past 40 years.

Paul Giel, Jerry Kindall, George Thomas, Fred Bruckbauer, Dave Winfield, Paul Molitor, Terry Steinbach, Greg Olson, Denny Neagle, J.T. Bruett, Brent Gates, Brian Raabe and Cole De Vries all spent time with Minnesota's Major League club.
