Gopher Sports: Why did you decide to attend the University of Minnesota?
Niklas Brinck: When deciding on where I wanted to attend school following high school graduation, I wanted to go somewhere that I could get a great education and be a part of a great swim program. I felt that the U of M fit both of those characteristics.
GS: What is your most memorable swimming moment?
NB: Completing four years of college swimming. Everything about that is memorable. During those 4 years, as a swimmer, we endure and experience so much.Â
GS:Â What is your favorite part of being a Golden Gopher?
NB:Â Being a part of a team and the resources we have to help us excel our athletic and academic careers.
GS:Â What is your favorite pre-race song?
NB:Â For years it has always been Lose Yourself by Eminem.Â
GS: What is the best advice you have received from one of the coaches at Minnesota?
NB:Â In the event of a bad practice or off practice, Dennis Dale would always tell us "That was a little slow, but your mother still loves you" or "That was a little slow, but you're still a great person". It added a little humor when anyone was down about their performance in practice. Â
GS:Â What is your dream job?
NB:Â Growing up I always wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. So I could say that is still a dream job of mine.
GS:Â What is your favorite post-meet meal?
NB:Â Some sort of pasta dish or a steak filet.
GS:Â Do you have any other hobbies outside of swimming?
NB:Â I am really big into music; I am always looking for new music to listen to. I am also into reading. Not necessarily books, but reading about sports, history, interesting facts or events.
GS:Â What do you plan on doing after graduation?
NB:Â Although I will graduate in the spring, I have to take a few more classes to meet some pre reqs for graduate school. Then I plan on attending PA school.
