Grunewald Named to Team USA for World Relays

MINNEAPOLIS -- Gopher All-American and current Brooks Running and Team USA Minnesota runner Gabriele Grunewald (formerly Gabriele Anderson) has been named to the U.S. roster for the 2015 IAAF World Relays, which will take place May 2-3 in Nassau, Bahamas.

Grunewald will compete in the women's 4x800m relay and the women's distance medley relay in attempt to help Team USA defend the Golden Baton at the second annual event.

Grunewald is a native of Perham, Minn. While competing for the University of Minnesota, Grunewald was named an All-American, a three-time NCAA All-Region honoree and a six-time All Big-Ten honoree in track & field and cross country teams. In 2010, Grunewald was the 1,500m runner-up at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

Minnesota men's track & field alum Ben Blankenship was also named to the U.S. roster to compete on the men's distance medley relay team.

The IAAF World Relays will air live in the United States from 6-9 p.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3 on Universal Sports.
