This week we welcome Minnesota-native, Brenner Hohenstein, to the Gophers' swimming Class of 2019. Hohenstein is a breaststroke swimmer joining Minnesota from Maple Grove Senior High and NHCP Swim Club. His favorite race is the 200-yard breaststroke.
Gopher Sports: Why did you choose the University of Minnesota?
Brenner Hohenstein: Growing up 30 minutes from campus, the U has always been a big name and destination. The team was great during my visit, and the future of the team was very appealing.
GS: What are you looking forward to the most with starting your collegiate career as a Golden Gopher?
BH: I'm looking forward to the new training, and the combination of school and "work".
GS: Thus far, what has been your best or most proud swimming memory?
BH: The most memorable experience was winning back-to-back 100 breast at high school state.
GS: What do you like to do for fun outside of the pool?
BH: I like to cycle, but not to the extent that some go to. I also enjoy fishing and just staying relaxed, but busy.
GS: How do you think you will contribute to the Gopher swimming and diving program?
BH: I feel that I will bring leadership and determination to the team, all while keeping a joke on hand!
