MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota's women's hockey head coach Brad Frost has announced the hiring of Dean Thibodeau as the program's new director of hockey operations.
"We are very excited to have Dean joining our staff," Frost said. "He has gained great experience with different universities in our league and with USA Hockey. Dean is a person of character and will fit well within our program."
Thibodeau spent the 2014-15 season at the University of Wisconsin as the men's and women's hockey video coordinator prior to being hired by the University of Minnesota.
Before his time at the University of Wisconsin, Thibodeau served as the women's hockey video coordinator at St. Cloud State for six years. He also assisted with the team's hockey and game operations, as well as creative services. During that time, Thibodeau coordinated the team's travel plans, managed expenses, and aided in social media efforts.
"I can't thank the university and the coaching staff enough for this tremendous opportunity to work with the women's hockey program," Thibodeau said. "I have been exposed to the University of Minnesota staff, fans, and traditions for a number of years as an opponent and have always known this is a special place. To now be a part of it all and to be able to contribute to a premier program is an exciting endeavor I am looking forward to."
In addition to his time at Wisconsin and St. Cloud State, Thibodeau's experience also includes time working with USA Hockey, as he began working with the organization as a video coordinator in 2009. He completed an internship with the U.S. Women's National Team in 2011, where he coordinated hockey operations during national team camps and festivals. Along with that experience, he also was the video coordinator with the U.S. Under-18 Team for the 2013 and 2014 world championships.
The Manchester, Conn., native graduated from St. Cloud State with a degree in marketing in 2013.
