Gophers Announce Promotions Calendar

MINNEAPOLIS - The defending national champion Golden Gopher women's hockey team is pleased to announce its 2015-16 promotions calendar. Fans should mark their calendars for special events, promotions, and giveaways accompanying Minnesota's home games at Ridder Arena.
The 2015-16 promotional calendar includes the return of many fan-favorites such as Alumni Day (Oct. 10), Skate with the Gophers (Nov. 14), and the teddy bear toss (Nov. 20). The Gopher Women's Hockey Youth VIP Pass also returns for its fourth year.
The Gophers will celebrate the 2015 national championship during their home-opener. Minnesota hosts St. Cloud State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, and the team will hold a banner-raising ceremony prior to the game. Be sure to arrive early to commemorate the program's sixth national title.
On Friday, Nov. 13, the Gophers will host a Gold Rush to celebrate the 13th anniversary of Ridder Arena when they host Bemidji State. Fans are encouraged to wear gold, and they will receive gold rally towels as the team celebrates 13 seasons of women's hockey at Ridder Arena.
The 2015-16 Gopher Sports Student Tour also continues on Friday, Nov. 13; students in attendance will receive gold metallic earbuds and a Gopher power bank in addition to free pizza and soda while supplies last.
The annual Skate with the Gophers event will follow Minnesota's game against Bemidji State on Saturday, Nov. 14. Children in eighth grade and under are invited to skate with the team after the game. Registration for Skate with the Gophers will be available soon.
Minnesota's teddy bear toss is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 20 when the Gophers host Yale in non-conference action at 7 p.m. Fans are invited to bring stuffed animals to donate to Gopher Athletics' annual toy drive by throwing the stuffed animals on the ice when the first Gopher goal is scored.
The team's final home series marks a Border Battle with Wisconsin Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20. The Gophers will honor their five seniors, Hannah Brandt, Brook Garzone, Amanda Leveille, Milica McMillen and Maryanne Menefee as they close out the regular season against the WCHA rival Badgers.
