Gophers Take the Field For Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL season concluded with several former Gophers making an impact for their teams.
Mackey Award winning tight end Matt Spaeth saw the field on offense and special teams with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Spaeth and the Steelers recorded their first win of the season as they defeated San Francisco 49ers, 43-18.
Former Minnesota defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman made his second straight start for the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons overcame a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat the New York Giants, 24-20.
Tight end Marqueis Gray, former quarterback for the Gophers, played on special teams with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills fell to the New England Patriots, 40-32.
Safety Brock Vereen of the Chicago Bears saw a few snaps on defense as the Bears fell to the Arizona Cardinals, 48-21.
Rookie tight end Maxx Williams was on the field for a few offensive snaps for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens lost to the Oakland Raiders, 37-33.
Vikings return man and former Gopher Cornerback Marcus Sherels returned three punts including a 31-yard return. He also recorded a tackle on special teams as the Vikings beat the Lions, 26-16.
First-year linebacker Damien Wilson recorded his first career NFL tackle on special teams with the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson tallied two tackles on the day as Dallas defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 20-10.
David Cobb, former Minnesota running back, remains on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return List. He will be eligible to play for the Tennessee Titans week 8.
Former Gophers wide receiver Eric Decker shined bright on Monday Night Football, reeling in eight catches on 11 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown. Decker and the New York Jets defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 20-7.
