MINNEAPOLIS- The University of Minnesota women's soccer team returns to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium to continue their Big Ten play to host the Purdue Boilermakers and the Indiana Hoosiers.

Friday's game, High School Night, will begin at 7:00 p.m. and fans will get their first look at the 2015 season scarves. All high school soccer teams are invited to ELR with free admittance with submission of their team roster and contact information sent to the Gopher marketing department 24 hours before game time. Email rosters to Kathryn Dillin at kmdillin@umn.edu.

After a phenomenal display last weekend taking down No. 20 Ohio State and No. 4 Penn State, the Gophers are 7-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play, which resulted in being named No. 18 in the NSCAA Division I rankings.

On the season, Minnesota has recorded six shutouts and has only allowed four goals.

Along with the NSCAA rankings, the Maroon and Gold were named one of the five biggest movers in NCAA DI women's soccer by HEROsports.com along with LSU, Portland, Long Beach and Dartmouth.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Thursday, the Maroon and Gold came up from a 1-0 deficit at half to defeat the Buckeyes, 2-1. In the 66th minute, sophomore Sydney Squires scored the equalizer with a double assist from senior co-captain Haley Helverson who found service from sophomore Tori Burnett. Junior co-captain Simone Kolander scored the game-winining goal to solidify the Gopher victory with 11 minutes left to play.

On Sunday in Minnesota's victory over Penn State, Kolander scored the lone goal of the game in the 31st minute of play off a double assist from Helverson and Squires.

The last time Minnesota beat Penn State at Jeffrey Field was Oct. 1, 1995 in the Gophers' third year of program existence. The Maroon and Gold defeated the Nittany Lions, 2-0.

The last time the Gophers beat both Ohio State and Penn State back-to-back, was in 1997 when Penn State fell to Minnesota at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium and the Buckeyes dropped at home. Minnesota would go on to be crowned the Big Ten Champions.

Northwestern has the same 7-1-2 record with Minnesota. The Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University are the only team in the Big Ten that has a perfect record of 8-0-0 overall, but the Gophers still stand on top of the conference after their sweep.

With their record, Minnesota is on top of the conference standing. The last time the Gophers were on top of the Big Ten conference was when they clinched the conference crown in 2008.

THE OPPONENTS
Last Friday, Purdue dropped a contest with Northwestern, 1-0. The loss ended a 11-game win streak for the Boilermakers. The loss continued the Boilers' 2008 record of dropping their first conference contest.

Entering Sunday's match-up against Illinois, the Boilers lit a fire and defeated the Fighting Illini, 3-1.

The team's first goal was supplied by Hannah Mussallem, her first of the season, off an assist from Maddy Williams. In the 58th-minute of play, Andrea Petrina found service from Hannah Leinert to score off a goalkeeper deflection. Williams tallied her second assist on the night when she found Leinert, who netted the Boilers' third and final goal with a point blank header.

Illinois escaped a shutout with two minutes left to play, leaving the final tally, 3-1.

The last time Purdue made the trip to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium was during the 2011 season where they defeated the Gophers, 2-1.

The Indiana Hoosiers enter this weekend with an overall record of 3-3-4.

Last Friday, Indiana hosted the Fighting Illini and went into double overtime to end in a draw, 0-0.

Sunday's match-up was a case of deja vu for the Hoosiers, as another hard fought battle would end in a draw. This time however, both teams were able to get a point on the board.

The Wildcats were the first to get on the board, with a header goal by Niki Sebo off a Nandi Mehta corner kick.

With 12 minutes left in regulation, Lauren Joray scored the equalizer for the Hoosiers off an assist from Kayla Smith.

After 110 minutes, the Northwestern Wildcats and Hoosiers tied knotted at 1-1.

SIMONE KOLANDER - STAR OF THE WEEK
After providing both game-winning goals for the Maroon and Gold last weekend, Kolander collected a bevy of awards.

The junior was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, espnW Player of the Week, University of Minnesota's Athlete of the Week, Top Drawer Soccer's TDS Player of the Week and College Soccer 360's Top Primetime Performer.
