MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's soccer team continues their stint on the road as they head to Milwaukee, Wis. to face Marquette on Friday at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Sunday trip to Lubbock, Texas with game time set for 7:00 p.m.

After defeating Marquette on Friday, the Gophers now stand with a record of 3-1-1.

LAST TIME OUT
In the first away game of the season, the Gophers defeated Stephen F. Austin 1-0 at the Battle on the Bayou tournament hosted by LSU. In the sixty-third minute of the game, sophomore Tori Burnett scored the game-winning goal off an assist from junior Ashley Pafko.

In the second half alone, the Maroon and Gold outshot the Ladyjacks 12-2 with tallying 19 shots on the night.

In game two down in Louisiana, Minnesota fell to LSU, 0-1. Both teams headed to the locker room knotted at zero but in the sixty-ninth minute of the game, LSU sophomore Jorian Baucom scored off a header ball off a cross from teammate Summer Clarke.

In Friday's matchup versus Marquette, the Maroon and Gold won in exciting fashion 2-1 in overtime.

The first goal for the Gophers was contributed by freshman April Bockin in the 17th minute of play off an assist from sophomore Maddie Gaffney. This was the first goal of Bockin's collegiate career and Gaffney's first assist on the season.

In the 79th minute, Marquette scored an equalizer to force the match to go into overtime.

The extra time wouldn't last much longer however, as three minutes in, senior co-captain Haley Helverson fired a shot from 25-yards out to solidify the Minnesota victory, 2-1.

THE OPPONENTS
Marquette entered Friday's game with a record of 2-2-0. Last weekend, the Golden Eagles faced the Portland Pilots and fell 4-3.

The team outshot Portland 21-7 and found the back of the net three times credit to sophomore Caroline Fink, junior Darian Powell and redshirt senior Jacie Jermier.

Minnesota last met Marquette in the 2014 season in a 1-0 victory at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

The 20th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders enter the weekend with a record of 2-1-0. Last time out, the team hosted Georgia at their home opener and defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1.

In the 53rd-minute of the game, Texas Tech answered a Georgia goal with a header goal of their own by sophomore Cassie Conarty with a corner kick service from senior Ali Murphy. Tech then scored again, as junior Maddy Crabtree netted one off an assist from senior Janine Beckie.

The last time the Gophers faced the Red Raiders was back in the 2013, when the Maroon and Gold fell 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA Soccer Championship at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following their return from back-to-back trips on the road, Minnesota will host two games back home at ELR. On Friday, Sept. 11, the Gophers will host a 7:00 p.m. match versus New Mexico. Action will return on Sunday, Sept. 13 for an afternoon game against Nebraska-Omaha. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
