CALGARY, Alberta - Gopher women's hockey alumni Sarah Davis and Kelly Terry are among the 32 players invited to Canada's National Women's Team's training camp this week at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke, Ont.
Davis and Terry are two of 20 forwards on the camp roster, which also includes three goaltenders and nine defensemen.
Davis is one of 15 players headed to the camp who won a silver medal with Canada's National Women's Team at the 2015 Four Nations Cup in Sundsvall, Sweden. Meanwhile, Terry is one of six players who won a gold medal with Canada's National Women's Development Team at the 2016 Nations Cup in Füssen, Germany.
Davis and Terry both played for the Gophers from 2010-11 to 2013-14. Davis recorded 140 points on 50 goals and 90 assists. Meanwhile, Terry appeared in 158 games with 155 points on 57 goals and 98 assists.
During camp, players will be on the ice for daily practices, and will participate in four Red-White intrasquad games. All practices and games at Canada's National Women's Team training camp are open to the public and free of charge.
The camp will serve as an opportunity for Canada's National Women's Team coaching staff, including head coach Laura Schuler, assistant coaches Howie Draper and Dwayne Gylywoychuk, and goaltending consultant Brad Kirkwood, alongside Melody Davidson, Hockey Canada's general manager of national women's team programs, to evaluate players midseason. It will assist the coaching and scouting staffs in selecting the team that will represent Canada at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship in Kamloops, B.C., from March 28 to April 4.
