Potomak Named WCHA Rookie of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS - Freshman forward Sarah Potomak has earned her fifth WCHA Rookie of the Week award of the season after recording five points in Minnesota's series sweep on the road at St. Cloud State last weekend.
Potomak recorded five points in game one of the series, tying her career-high with two goals and adding three assists en route to Minnesota's 7-0 win. For the series, Potomak had eight shots on goal and was plus-four.
The Aldergrove, British Columbia native contributed to Minnesota's first five goals of the 7-0 win, setting up Hannah Brandt's game-winner, scoring the Gophers' second and fourth goals and also assisting the third and fifth tallies. Her two goals came on seven shots on goal.
Potomak leads the Gophers, the WCHA, and the NCAA with 34 total assists and 1.48 assists per game. She ranks fifth in the NCAA among all players with 1.96 points per game, while also ranking third in the WCHA behind only linemates Dani Cameranesi and Hannah Brandt. Potomak's 45 total points rank third in the league (behind teammates Cameranesi and Brandt) and sixth in the nation. She also leads the WCHA with a +43 plus/minus rating.
Among NCAA rookies, Potomak is the national leader with 45 total points, 34 total assists, 1.96 points per game, 1.48 assists per game, eight power-play assists, and a +43 rating. She leads WCHA rookies with 11 goals and 84 shots on goal as well.
