The University of Minnesota football program has agreed to an upcoming home game with Georgia Southern. The Gophers will host the Eagles on Sept. 14, 2019.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Minnesota and Georgia Southern. The Eagles play in the Sun Belt Conference and Minnesota is 11-1 against current conference members. Minnesota last played a Sun Belt opponent in 2013, when it won 44-21 at New Mexico State. The Gophers, which will also host New Mexico State in 2018, most common Sun Belt opponent has been Louisiana and Louisiana Monroe. Minnesota is 3-0 against both of those schools.

The Georgia Southern game completes Minnesota's 2019 schedule, as it was announced this past June that Minnesota would play at Fresno State on Sept. 7, 2019. The Gophers will also host Fresno State in 2018.
