MINNEAPOLIS - Head coach Brad Frost and sophomore forward Sarah Potomak met with the media this week as the No. 2 Gopher women's hockey team prepares to host St. Cloud State in a Thursday/Friday series this week.

Frost and Potomak preview St. Cloud State, reflect on Potomak's recent game-winning goals, and look back on last weekend's series sweep at Ohio State and Frost's 300th career coaching victory.

On this week's series vs. St. Cloud State...

Brad Frost: They're much improved. St. Cloud improved in the WCHA standings last year and now they're doing the same thing here again this year with some real quality wins. Eric Rud is doing a great job there, and we're going to have to be ready. We're going to be without Lee Stecklein on Friday as she heads to the Four Nations Cup with Team USA. When you lose one of your best defensemen, it makes it a little more challenging. We're excited for the opportunity to play St. Cloud.

On coaching against former assistant coach Nadine Muzerall at Ohio State...

BF: Ohio State was very competitive. Their goaltender is very elite. She's one of the top two or three in the conference and maybe in the country. We out-shot them pretty extensively both games. They were able to stick around and keep it close in the third period, and fortunately we were able to score in the third and get that game-winner. But, Nadine is doing a great job in improving that program.

On Sarah Potomak's game-winning goals...

BF: She's one of those players where the bigger the moment, the better she plays. We saw that last year in the Frozen Four against Wisconsin in the semis and against Boston College in the finals. She's really picked up where she left off last year, being the National Rookie of the Year last year and now to have four straight game-winning goals. I think there's probably some luck on her side, but she also puts herself in great spots and her line mates have done a great job helping her.

Sarah Potomak: There's some luck in that, but I play with two great linemates, Kelly [Pannek] and Dani [Cameranesi]. Kelly has assisted every single one of those [game-winners]. Without her I wouldn't have gotten any of those goals. I think I'm the kind of player that kind-of does well in high-pressure situations, so that's what my role is and I'm trying to accomplish that to the best of my ability.

On reaching 300 career wins...

BF: The special part is the number of great players and people that we've had here. Certainly we have a lot of great staff members and coaches also. This is my 10th season and we've had a lot of success so we've gotten to the 300 number maybe faster than most, but most importantly it's a blessing and honor to be the coach here and to have the opportunity to coach these ladies.
