Albrecht Named B1G Freshman of the Week

Golden Gopher Nikki Albrecht (Cedarburg, Wisc.) was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after her performance in last night's commanding win over Maryland. This is the first conference honor for Albrecht.
Albrecht, a defender, scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Molly Fiedler in the 47th minute. Her goal put the Gophers up 3-0, en route to a 6-0 win. She also registered two shots.
With last night's win, Minnesota earned a share of the Big Ten regular season title for the first time since 2008.
Minnesota will host Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals this Sunday, Oct. 30 with kickoff set for 2 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at mygophersports.com.
