Gophersports.com: After missing last season due to an injury, how does it feel to be able to finally get out on the court?
Taylor Morgan: It is honestly a dream come true. I have always loved the Gopher volleyball program ever since I was a young girl and now that I'm actually a part of the team, there is no better feeling.
GS: Earlier this season at the Diet Coke Classic against Green Bay, you saw a lot of playing time and put up 10 kills and three blocks. What was that game like for you, after a season on the sidelines?
TM: I thought it was amazing. It was awesome being able to put all the hours of practice into action.
GS: After that game against Green Bay, people were finally able to see how you can play. What do you want to show people this season?
TM: After that game I just want to show people that I'm with a team that is committed to working hard and to the process of the game. Also that we will compete hard and we love the game.
GS: What things have you been working on individually to be ready when you're called out on the court?
TM: I've been working on knowing the other hitters' tendencies and knowing the rotations. Another thing I am working on is having consistency in my energy.
GS: How else are you helping your team grow?
TM: In practice I'm going as hard as I can and pushing my teammates as players and as people. I also celebrate their successes. I want them to feel good when they do something good.
GS: Outside of volleyball, how is your second year of school going? Have you decided on a major?
TM: My second year is going very well. The first year was a big transition, but now that I have a year under my belt I'm confident not only with my volleyball but with school. I have not declared a major yet.
GS: Has your family been able to support you at the Pav?
TM: Yes they have been at every home game. Their support and love has been so great in my life. They have always been there for me at every volleyball game in high school and in club. Now that I don't get to see them every day it makes me extremely happy to see them at the games.
GS: What does their support mean to you?
TM: Their support means the world to me. If there is one thing I love the most it's when I look into the stands and see my mom smile at me.
