Gophers Announce Signing Class

MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's track & field and cross country program has announced the signing of eight Gophers prospects to National Letters of Intent.
Joining the Maroon & Gold are Anthony Fleischfresser (Blaine, Minn.), Grant Fuller (Edina, Minn.), Mike Herauf (Dickinson, N.D.), Dawson LaRance (Billings, Mont.), Hunter Lucas (Fargo, N.D.), Jordan Macintosh (Thunder Bay, Ontario), Patrick Roos (Edina, Minn.) and Kaleb Siekmeier (Mahtomedi, Minn.).
"We're thrilled with this signing class," Minnesota Director of Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Steve Plasencia said. "We have a good mix of talented competitors coming in to fill some key spots on our roster, and we are excited to see what they can do."
Anthony Fleischfresser | Jumps | Blaine, Minn. | Spring Lake Park High School
Enrolled at Spring Lake Park High School…the 2016 MSHSL Class AA state champion in the high jump, clearing 6-09.00 ft….also finished third at the state meet as a sophomore…set a school and Northwest Suburban Conference Championships record with his winning attempt of 6-10 ft. at the 2016 conference meet...also competes for the Spring Lake Park football team as a running back and is currently leading the team in the MSHSL Class AAAAA state football tournament.
Grant Fuller | Hurdles | Edina, Minn. | Edina High School
Enrolled at Edina High School…set Edina's all-time school 300-meter hurdles record of 38.38 at the 2016 MSHSL Class AA State Championship, finishing third…also competed in the 200 meters, 400 meters, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and relay squads… competed at the 2016 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships…high school teammates with fellow Gophers signee Patrick Roos and current Gopher Jack Manderscheid.
Mike Herauf | Multi-Events/Pole Vault | Dickinson, N.D. | Dickinson High School
Enrolled at Dickinson High School…the 2016 North Dakota Class A pole vault state champion…also represented Dickinson at the state meet in the 4x400 meter relay…competed at the 2016 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships, placing fifth with a personal record of 15-02.25 ft.…sister, Jess (Herauf) Lehman, was a team captain, Big Ten champion and All-American for the Minnesota women's track & field program.
Dawson LaRance | Mid-Distance/Distance | Billings, Mont. | Billings Senior High School
Enrolled at Billings Senior High School…helped Senior to a second-place finish at the 2016 Montana state cross country meet, posting a fifth-place individual finish and personal record time of 15:15.7…also won the 2016 Billings city meet…as a junior, won the 2016 Montana Class AA state title in the 800 meters, ran a leg of Senior's 4x400 meter relay squad that placed second and placed fifth in the 1,600 meters…also recorded top-10 state finishes in all three events as a sophomore in 2015 as Senior won its sixth-straight state team title…a member of the National Honors Society…an all-state choir selection…owns a personal record in the 800 meters of 1:52.56.
Hunter Lucas | Distance | Fargo, N.D. | Fargo Davies High School
Enrolled at Fargo Davies High School…the 2016 North Dakota Class A state cross country champion as a senior with a time of 15:31 - Fargo Davies' first state cross country champion…the 2016 Powerade North Dakota Senior Athlete of the Year…earned 2016 North Dakota state track & field titles in the 3,200 meters and the 1,600 meters…won both the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters at the 2016 USATF Junior Olympic National Championships.
Jordan Macintosh | Distance | Thunder Bay, Ontario | Hammarskjold High School
Enrolled at Hammarskjold High School…led the Vikings to the 2016 NWOSSAA cross country senior boys title and earned the individual medal for Hammarskjold…competed at the Legion National Youth Track & Field Championships and won gold in the 1,500 meters and bronze in the 3,000 meters…named the male MVP for the Manitoba NW Ontario team…competed for the Lakehead Running club…also played football for Hammarskjold…owns personal records of 3:52.66 in the 1,500 meters and 8:32.11 in the 3,000 meters.
Patrick Roos | Distance| Edina, Minn. | Edina High School
Enrolled at Edina High School…the 2016 MSHSL Class AA state cross country champion, winning the five-kilometer race in 15:36…led Edina with an all-state performance as the Hornets finished second at the state meet…also won the 2016 Victoria Lions' Invitational for his first high school win…finished third in the 3,200 meters at the 2016 MSHSL Class AA state track & field championships as Edina finished second overall…competed at the 2016 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships…high school teammates with fellow Gophers signee Grant Fuller and current Gopher Jack Manderscheid…owns a personal record of 9:07.97 in the 3,200 meters.
Kaleb Siekmeier | Throws | Mahtomedi, Minn. | Mahtomedi High School
Enrolled at Mahtomedi High School…recorded a pair of top-10 finishes at the 2016 MSHSL Class AA State Championships…finished fifth in the discus with a personal record of 161-11.00 ft. and finished eighth in the shot put with a personal record of 56-04.25 ft….played tight end and defensive end for the Mahtomedi football team and helped the program to a state tournament appearance as a senior…also played basketball for Mahtomedi…his parents, John and Becky (Fettig) Siekmeier, were both throwers at the University of Minnesota.
