Nick Hart talks following in his parents footsteps, funniest guy on the team, favorite superhero and more in the latest Gopher Talk!
Gopher Sports: Both of your parents were athletes at Minnesota. What does it mean to you and your family to play football here?
Nick Hart: Growing up a Gopher fan, coming to all the games, it meant the world to me to have the opportunity to come here and play at the same place my father did as well as where my mother did. I'm just honored, humbling to make it here.
GS: Has your father told you any stories about when he played on the team?
NH: He has told me quite a few about really everything. From the stuff they did on the weekends from stuff on the practice field. All they fun they had.
GS: Did you grow up a fan of all the professional teams in Minnesota as well?
NH: It was really all the pro teams and the Gophers. I would say I've always been more of a college football fan. It's just more exciting and unpredictable.
GS: What do you like to do outside of football?
NH: I like to be outdoors. I like to go out on the lake. I love to go hiking and I love to explore the city and just do different things like that.
GS: You played basketball in high school, have you played any games with some teammates?
NH: I haven't recently. My roommates and I would during our freshman year though.
GS: Who was your biggest competition in basketball?
NH: Back in the day it was playing Chad Fahnning. He's a big man and he's hard to keep out of the zone.
GS: Who's your biggest role model and why?
NH: My father. I just have strived to be like him ever since I was a kid and he's been coaching me to make it here. Following in his footsteps, it's been an honor to do that.
GS: What's your dream vacation?
NH: To travel to Europe and just adventure there. Going everywhere, not specifically one place, all the destinations.
GS: What's your favorite home cooked meal?
NH: My mom's chicken parmesan, I really like Italian food and my mom makes a great chicken parmesan.
GS: Who's the funniest guy on the team?
NH: Rashad Still. You just don't know what's going to come out of his mouth.
GS: What's your favorite kind of music and who's your favorite artist?
NH: I really don't have a favorite artist. I like a lot of different kinds of music. In the summer, on the boat, it's country. In the winter, everything from rap to EDM to whatever.
GS: What do you do to relax?
NH: I turn on whatever show I've been watching on Netflix and watch all the episodes.
GS: Who's your favorite superhero?
NH: Batman. He's very under the radar. He does things secretly and has the coolest gadgets. He's just awesome.
GS: What's one thing you cannot live without?
NH: A comfortable bed. If I didn't have a comfortable bed, I would just be miserable.
