The University of Minnesota football program has agreed to future home-and-home series with Mississippi State.

The Gophers will host the Bulldogs at TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 12, 2026. Minnesota will then travel to Starkville, Miss., for a game on Sept. 11, 2027. This series will mark the first time that Minnesota and Mississippi State will meet on the football field.

The Bulldogs will be Minnesota’s first regular-season SEC opponent since the Gophers beat Vanderbilt 20-6 on Oct. 31, 1959.

Minnesota is 8-8-1 all-time against current SEC members (not all games were played when schools were members of the SEC, which was formed in 1933) and its most recent game against a school from the SEC was the 2015 Citrus Bowl against Missouri.

Minnesota’s most recent win – and its most recent meeting prior to the 2015 Citrus Bowl – against an SEC school was a 20-16 victory against Alabama in the 2004 Music City Bowl.
