Carpenter, Ekpe Tabbed Academic All-District

Emmit Carpenter and Scott Ekpe each earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Thursday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Carpenter has a 3.583 GPA majoring in supply chain and operations management. He had never attempted a field goal for the Gophers before this season, but he made nine straight to start the year and is 13-for-15, entering Saturday's game against Purdue. He was recently named one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award.

Ekpe holds a 3.815 GPA in human resource development. He has started five games this season and has 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries. On top of his work on the field he is also interning with APi Construction this semester.
