Leveille Earns WCHA Weekly Award

MINNEAPOLIS - Senior goaltender Amanda Leveille has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week after recording back-to-back shutouts over No. 8 North Dakota last weekend. Leveille backstopped Minnesota to a 3-0 win and scoreless overtime tie (2-1 shootout loss). Her 57-save effort on the weekend was a season-high for the Kingston, Ontario native.
Leveille made a season-best 29 saves in Friday's 3-0 win, picking up her sixth shutout of the season. She then followed up with 28 saves in the team's 0-0 overtime tie on Saturday for her seventh shutout of the year and 29th of her career. Leveille also made nine saves in the 11-round shootout.
Leveille's back-to-back shutouts were her first since her first two appearances of the 2015-16 season, a 20-save, 2-0 win over Penn State (Oct. 1) and a five-save, 7-0 win over St. Cloud State (Oct. 9).
Among NCAA goaltenders this season, Leveille's 1.29 goals against average is ranked fourth (second in the WCHA) and her .936 save percentage is ninth (third in the WCHA). At 19-3-1, she has a .848 winning percentage, good for fourth in the nation and second in the league. Her seven shutouts are tied for fourth in the NCAA and tied for second in the WCHA as well.
Leveille's career totals stand at 29 shutouts and an 88-8-5 mark. She ranks second in Minnesota history in both career shutouts and career wins, trailing only Noora Raty (114-17-8 with 43 shutouts). Leveille's 88 wins rank sixth in the NCAA career ranks while her 29 shutouts are tied for sixth in NCAA history.
