Gophers Head to Mountain View Friday

The Minnesota women's golf team travels to Arizona this week, taking part in the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational in Tucson. The two-day, 54-hole tournament at Mountain View Golf Club begins Friday morning with a 8:00 a.m. local time shotgun start.

Minnesota will send six to the tournament, with the lineup consisting of sophomore Heather Ciskowski, sophomore Sabrine Garrison, junior Emie Peronnin, freshman Muyu Wu and freshman Maggie Heggerston. Freshman Niamh Ward will also compete individually.
The Gophers are part of a competitive 15-team field, which includes which includes Colorado State, Georgia, Iowa State, Kansas State Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Purdue, San Jose State, Texas State, UTSA and Wyoming. All but one of those teams currently rank within Golfweek's Top 100 rankings, including three top-25 squads.
This will be the third tournament of the spring season for the Maroon and Gold, who finished 11th in their most recent competition at the Hurricane Invitational two weeks ago. Three Gophers have marked top-25 finishes in 2016, highlighted by Peronnin's tie for sixth at the UCF Challenge in February.
