CBS to Air NCAA Championship Sunday

MINNEAPOLIS - Fans can catch a tape-delayed broadcast of the 2016 NCAA national championship game on CBS at 1 p.m. CT Sunday. Tune in to see Minnesota defeat Boston College, 3-1, to take home the program's seventh national title.
The Gophers took a 1-0 lead just 13 seconds into the game on a goal by Sarah Potomak and added third-period goals by Amanda Kessel and Kelly Pannek before Boston College got on the board. Fans can also see interviews with Hannah Brandt, Lee Stecklein, Kessel and head coach Brad Frost during the broadcast.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to have our sport in the national spotlight on Sunday," head coach Brad Frost said. "Having our championship game televised is something we've wanted for a number of years, and, despite the tape delayed coverage, we hope fans will tune in to show their support of women's hockey. Hopefully Gopher fans who weren't able to join us in New Hampshire last weekend can enjoy celebrating our national title this weekend."
Minnesota defeated No. 2 seed Wisconsin (35-4-1) in overtime by a score of 3-2 in the semifinal round to advance to the title game. Sarah Potomak scored the game-winning goal in overtime after Taylor Williamson and Amanda Kessel scored for the Gophers during regulation, and Amanda Leveille made 37 saves.
Meanwhile, Boston College also advanced to the championship game with a 3-2 overtime win. The Eagles defeated Clarkson (30-5-5), rallying from a 2-0 deficit. Haley Skarupa led BC with two-goals, including the game-winner.
