MINNEAPOLIS - The 2016 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Selection Show will air live on NCAA.com at 8 p.m. CT Sunday. The eight-team tournament field and the quarterfinal round match-ups will be unveiled during the broadcast.

Postseason conference tournament winners Boston College (Hockey East), Wisconsin (WCHA), Quinnipiac (ECAC Hockey), and Mercyhurst (College Hockey America) have already earned automatic berths into the NCAA tournament. The remaining four teams are chosen by the NCAA selection committee.

Defending national champion Minnesota (32-4-1) looks to secure the program's 14th NCAA tournament appearance since 2001 and ninth consecutive national championship berth. The Gophers are also looking to make their fifth-straight appearance in the national championship game after playing in the title game each of the last four seasons (2012 - champions; 2013 - champions; 2014 - runners-up; 2015 - champions).

The NCAA quarterfinal round is set for March 11-13, and the four winners advance to the 2016 NCAA Women's Frozen Four at Whittemore Center Arena in Durham, N.H., March 18-20.
