Gophersports.com: You joined the Gophers for the 2015 season. Describe your experience as a Golden Gopher.
Toni Alugbue: It was a great experience. When I first arrived, everyone welcomed me with open arms and helped me smoothly transition to a new team, new university, and new city. This past season was one of the best experiences of my life. I'll always remember sold out games at the Pav, winning the Big Ten title, and getting to the Final Four. But most importantly, I'll always remember the good times spent with my teammates.

GS: Only being with the team for a year, you still had an amazing impact on the team. What was your role on the team and what was it like to come in as a senior?
TA: I worked hard to lead by example with my actions on and off the court, and model what it means to be a student-athlete. I think my teammates are very mature, and really helped me transition in my senior year. If I had a question about something like scouting, I always felt comfortable approaching a teammate for help.

GS: You've earned both a bachelor's degree from Notre Dame and now a master's degree from Minnesota. How has being a student-athlete helped you prepare for life after college?
TA: Being a student-athlete taught me so many valuable lessons. In my five years, I learned the importance of teamwork, keeping calm under pressure, and how to effectively communicate with people. These skills are valuable and will allow me to succeed in the life and in the workplace.

GS: What will you be doing after you graduate?
TA: I will be working as a banking analyst and doing side mobile health application development.

GS: What last advice would you give to your fellow teammates?
TA: Enjoy being a student-athlete! It sets you up for success and opens up so many doors. Also, dream big because there are so many people that are willing to help you make your dreams come true!
