Register For Golden Gopher Fishing Classic

Like football? Like fishing? Then the Goal Line Club has you covered, as it is hosting the inaugural Golden Gopher Fishing Classic on June 2-3, 2016.

The first-year event will be held at Lake Koronis in Paynesville, Minn. and all activities will take place at the Bug-Bee Hive Resort, Lodge & Event Center on the north shore of the lake. There will be hourly prizes and coach Tracy Claeys is offering a $500 award for the biggest catch of the day.

The two-day outing will allow fans to connect with members of the coaching staff on and off the water. On Thursday, June 2, there will be a meet-and-greet tailgate party that will start with a 4:30 p.m. social hour. Food will be served at 6 p.m. and then head coach Tracy Claeys will address those in attendance at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, June 3, breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and then anglers will take to the water from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A luncheon awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.

The all-inclusive price for the Golden Gopher Fishing Classic is $100 for adults, $35 for ages 11-20, and free for those 10 and under. The all-inclusive price includes the Thursday night tailgate party, Friday morning breakfast, the four-hour Fishing Classic and the awards luncheon program. For an extra $100, fans can also add a member of the Gopher football staff to their boat.

Fans wishing to attend only the Thursday tailgate party can do so without having to participate in the Golden Gopher Fishing Classic on Friday. The Thursday-only tailgate party price is $20 for adults and $10 for ages 11-20 and free for those 10 and under.

There is still limited lodging available at the Paynesville Inn & Suites, the Bug-Bee Hive Resort, Lodge & Retreat Center and Lake Koronis Regional Park. Those attending are encouraged to make reservations in advance.

Participants must provide their own boat. All anglers must have a valid Minnesota fishing license, fishing gear and a life jacket. Four anglers per boat is preferred.
