MINNEAPOLIS -- Eight Gophers have been chosen to represent their respective countries as part of the women's Under-22 three-game series between the United States and Canada this week. The teams are set to face-off Wednesday through Sunday at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta.

Sydney Baldwin, Patti Marshall, Kelly Pannek, Cara Piazza, Taylor Williamson, and Alex Woken will represent the United States during the series, while Sarah Potomak and Lindsay Agnew will represent Canada. This year marks the second-straight appearance for Baldwin, Pannek, Piazza, and Potomak, while Marshall, Woken, and Agnew all represented their respective countires in last year's U-18 series.

The United States' 22-player roster includes six defensemen, 14 forwards, and two goaltenders. A total of 13 states are represented; Minnesota leads with five players. The roster was finalized following the 2016 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, which took place at the Lake Placid Olympic Center last week.

Potomak and Agnew were named to Hockey Canada's final roster after the conclusion of the Hockey Canada National Teams' Summer Showcase last week. Canada's 23-player roster includes three goaltenders, seven defensemen and 13 forwards.

University of Minnesota associate head coach Joel Johnson is head coach of the U.S. Under-18 Team, and assistant coach Nadine Muzerall is serving as an assistant for Canada's National Women's Development Team.

The 2016 series will be the 13th three-game series to take place between the United States and Canada, which began in 1999. The teams will hold practices and scrimmages in preparation for the first game on Wednesday.

During the 2015 series in Lake Placid, N.Y., the United States topped Canada in the series, winning two games.

The three games are set for Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 8:30 p.m. CT, Friday, Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. CT, and Saturday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. CT.
