Open Scrimmage Set for Aug. 21

Minnesota Volleyball fans, get to know your 2016 Golden Gophers as the team is set to host an open intrasquad scrimmage, Sunday, August 21 at 3:30 p.m., at the Sports Pavilion.
Fans can start entering the Sports Pavilion at 2:30 p.m., as warmups begin, followed by the open scrimmage at 3:30 p.m. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
The Golden Gophers return 13 letter winners from last year, including six starters last season. Minnesota also adds newcomers to the list in freshmen Brittany McLean, Alexis Hart, Lauren Litzau and Regan Pittman.
Minnesota opens the season Aug. 27-28 in Palo Alto, Calif., when it takes on San Diego (receiving votes) and No. 11 Stanford. Minnesota's first home action is Sept. 16-17 when it hosts North Dakota, Toledo and Green Bay for the annual Diet Coke Classic.
