Rashad Still has been selected to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.

The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Hall of Famer Earl Campbell. The nominee must also be born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year college.

Still, a native of El Paso, Texas, played in 12 games as a freshman for the Gophers catching 18 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns. He showed big game potential with two of his best performances coming against Michigan and Ohio State. He caught two passes for 69 yards against Michigan, which included a 52-yard reception for his first-career touchdown. He followed it up with six catches for 41 yards and a touchdown at Ohio State.

The list will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. The winner will be announced at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 11, 2017.

Still was recently featured in his hometown newspaper, the El Paso Times.
