Gopher Talk With Ray Dixon

Gopher linebacker Ray Dixon talks his bowling skills, what actor he would want to portray him in a movie, what teammate he would take with him if stuck on a deserted island and more in the latest Gopher Talk.
Gopher Sports: What are some of your hobbies outside of football?
Ray Dixon: We go bowling a lot. Every Sunday, Coffman has free bowling. Me, Damarius (Travis), Jalen (Myrick), Everrett (Williams), all go bowling. That's something that people don't know about us is that we like to bowl. We bowl 200-plus every game, so we are pretty good.
GS: Who's the best bowler?
RD: Definitely me or Damarius. He sneaks one in every now and then.
GS: What can you tell us about your hometown?
RD: I'm from Loxahatchee, Fla. It's a little country place in south Florida. It's like an hour away from Miami. There isn't much to do but fish, go bowling, do outdoors stuff like four wheelers and dirt bikes.
GS: If you could sack any NFL quarterback, who would it be and why?
RD: Cam Newton. Simply because he's one of my favorite quarterbacks in the game right now. I'd like to do one of his little Superman things on him after I sack him.
GS: Are you a big NFL fan?
RD: My favorite team is the Indianapolis Colts. I have been a Colts fan for a long time because my uncle played offensive line for the Colts. Growing up, they were my favorite team. Now that I am in college, I know more players in the NFL though, so I watch different teams now as well.
GS: What's the craziest thing a teammate has ever said to you?
RD: Someone told me I look like Coolio. I don't know if anyone knows who Coolio is but that's probably the craziest thing anyone has said.
GS: If you had an actor portray you in a movie, who would it be?
RD: Denzel Washington. Everybody loves Denzel! Everybody loves me! If I was an actor that's who I would want to be. Someone who plays a bunch of different roles and is just an all-around great actor.
GS: What kind of music do you listen to?
RD: I listen to hip-hop, R&B and some of the little country songs that they play in the locker room that I don't really know the name of but when they come on I can sing along to them a little bit.
GS: What's one thing you could not live without?
RD: That would be my mom. She's always been my rock. She's sacrificed a lot for me and my family.
GS: What would you do if you won the lottery?
RD: The first thing I would do is put everything in the bank and try and forget I even had it. That money will burn some holes in your pocket fast if you keep it. I would just throw it in the bank, try to invest it and try to be smart with it.
GS: If you could bring one teammate on a deserted island with you, who would it be?
RD: Julian Huff. I would bring him because he's pretty quick and fast. He could chase down all the animals and cook them up and do what we got to do to survive on that island. He's a savage.
GS: What do you do just to relax?
RD: Chill with my teammates. Kick it back on the couch, watching cartoons, football or whatever is on.
