The Big Ten Conference and television partners ESPN and CBS Sports announced their broadcast slate for the upcoming season, marking the full unveiling of the Minnesota men's basketball team's 2016-17 schedule.
Minnesota will be featured on the ESPN family of networks eight times, including five times during conference play. In addition to the previously announced Big Ten/ACC Challenge game at Florida State (Nov. 28, 6:00 p.m., ESPNU), the Gophers' games at home against Arkansas (Nov. 22, 7:00 p.m.) and against Vanderbilt in Sioux Falls, S.D., (Dec. 3, 7:00 p.m.) will both be available on ESPN3.
The Gophers open Big Ten play as one of four ESPN2 games, hosting Michigan State at 8:00 p.m. Just over a week later, the Gophers travel to Northwestern for an 8:00 p.m. tip on ESPNU. Another road trip will air live on ESPNU, as the Gophers visit Penn State on Jan. 14 with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
Minnesota's next ESPNU game comes on Feb. 11, traveling to Rutgers with an 11:00 a.m. tip. Finally, the Gophers host Nebraska on March 2, with ESPN or ESPN2 televising the game at 6:00 p.m. from Williams Arena.
The Gophers are also part of three wildcard games, which will air on CBS or BTN. Those games include home dates with Michigan (Feb. 19) and Penn State, the latter to be played on Sat. Feb. 25 or Sun., Feb. 26. Finally, Minnesota visits rival Wisconsin to finish the regular season on Sun., March 5, a game that either CBS or BTN will televise.
Earlier this week, BTN announced its conference game telecasts, of which the Gophers will be featured at least 10 times.
ESPN, CBS and BTN will share coverage of the Big Ten Tournament March 5-8 from Washington, D.C.
