Minnesota welcomes four newcomers to the 2016 roster in Brittany McLean (Rosemount, Minn.), Alexis Hart (Independence, Mo.), Lauren Litzau (Greendale, Wis.) and Regan Pittman (Spring Hill, Kan.). Here's a brief question/answer session with the newest members of Gopher Volleyball.
What made you want to play at the University of Minnesota?
Brittany McLean: What made me want to come to Minnesota was the coaches, the players, and the draw of always wanting to be a Gopher since I was a little girl. Coming to games has always been exciting with the great fan base we have, so having the chance to be a part of that was something I couldn't pass up.
Alexis Hart: I came to the University of Minnesota because it feels like home, and I love the culture and people who live here. A lot of the people have the sweetest hearts and make you feel like you're home. Being far from home I wanted a school that was close enough for my family to travel. However, the main reason I came to Minnesota is the school and volleyball program. Minnesota has one of the best business schools in the nation and the coaching staff and teammates are the best thing anyone could ask for.
What has been the biggest adjustment for you on or off the court?
Lauren Litzau: Being vulnerable to make change has been the biggest adjustment for me, because making change can be difficult when you may not be successful right away.
Regan Pittman: My biggest adjustment is the speed of the game. I was overwhelmed at first, but I feel more comfortable as we go along in the preseason.
How has your experience been so far?
BM: The experience has been pretty great so far. Coming in during the summer has made the transition pretty easy, and the players on the team are very helpful when it comes to how Minnesota Volleyball operates.
AH: My experience at the U of M has been great and I'm very excited for the home season to start. Watching the crowd from the stands was the best experience. I cannot image what it will look like playing on the court.
What has been your favorite experience so far?
LL: My favorite experience has been game days. Going from scouting, to practice, to the game, has been a great experience and I feel so proud wearing the Minnesota uniform.
RP: My favorite experience was when we were in Puerto Rico. Dalianliz's (Rosado) name was called for the starting lineup and all her fans went crazy. It sent chills down my spine.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
BM: Honestly, I am looking forward to just being a part of this team. We have high goals set for ourselves and I know we can achieve them. But being apart of this experience with this team is rewarding in itself.
LL: I am just excited for my first season and to be a part of Gopher Volleyball.
AH: I'm most looking forward to getting to travel around the Big Ten with my teammates and experience some great memories.
RP: I am looking forward to all the home games and the quest for a national championship, but also being able to see new states and travel with such an amazing group of players and coaching staff.
