We went to double overtime with Tracy Claeys after last night's show and asked him some more fan questions that did not make it on during the show. We wil be doing this every week in an effort to answer as many fan questions as possible.
Rob Nechanicky: How did you think the secondary played?
TC: I thought they played well. We gave up the one long pass play and we have to have a little better eye discipline in that situation. They spread the field on us and had some pretty good guys. You would like to hold them under 21 points but that is really what we gave up was 21 points. Seven of those came off of a short field. Anytime you only give up that many points against a team that spreads it out you have to have had played well in the secondary.
Michael Hiatt: How did you think the offensive line played?
TC: I think our offensive line played more physical than what we had been playing. I think we have a little way to go on that. I do think we moved some people around and were able to rush for about 200 yards. We did not give up any sacks. Part of that was they did a good job and the backs did a good job. Mitch did a good job of getting the ball out. It was improvement from where we have been but we need to continue to get better.
Grant Gangeness: How much of the new gopher offense did we see in the first game and what should fans look for going forward?
TC: First ball games are hard. They had a new defensive coordinator so you don't know what you are going to see. You have to try to keep things down that you can practice and be able to adjust during the game so it limits you a bit. I thought they did a great job except for the two snaps going over the head. We did some good things we just have to get out of the gate sooner. We will have video now so that should be a little bit easier.
Doug Ascher: What did OSU do to limit our passing offense?
TC: We rushed them for 200 yards and Nate Wozniak had a good catch. We did what we needed to do to win the ball game so I was pleased with our passing game. We had a lot of different receivers catch balls so that tells me Mitch is looking all over the field and not just getting locked into one guy. Any time you distribute the ball that well it makes you harder to defend than always going to the same person. We played without Brandon Lingen and he would have been a big part of it also. Very pleased with where we were for the first game.
