Banham's Banner Unveiled

Seeing a banner with her name on it in the Williams Arena rafters was beyond Rachel Banham's wildest dreams when she arrived on campus in 2011. But more than five years later, it's a reality.

"You never really think that it's going to happen, so it's super cool that it really is happening," she said.

Banham's jersey was retired before the Gophers' game against Maryland yesterday. The Gophers' biggest crowd of the year was on hand, with a lot of early arrivals excited about Banham's return to the Barn.

"I didn't think there were going to be that many people waiting for an autograph," she said. "It's awesome to have all that support, not just for me but for the team as well."
