After 31 years behind the microphone courtside at Williams Arena, 2017 will mark the final season for Minnesota men's basketball public address announcer Dick Jonckowski.

Jonckowski, who will continue to serve as PA announcer at Gopher baseball games, was recognized for 30 years of work last season. He is one of two individuals to serve as the public address announcer in the 89-year history of Williams Arena, preceded by Jules Perlt who did so for 58 years.

"I am very proud to always represent the U of M," said Jonckowski, who has announced more than 600 games at Williams Arena. He will continue to represent the school as the public address announcer at Gopher baseball games, along with his speaking engagements and public appearances.

"Generations of Gopher fans have come through the doors of the Barn and heard Dick's voice," said athletic director Mark Coyle. "On behalf of Minnesota fans and all those who he has entertained over the years, we are extremely appreciative of Dick's work and thank him for his years of service to Gopher athletics."

Jonckowski, a longtime radio and media personality who also works as a public speaker and emcee, will be recognized during a pregame ceremony at the Gophers' home game against Michigan on Sunday, February 19. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
