GOPHERS HOST HAWKEYES
The No. 6 University of Minnesota welcomes the Iowa Hawkeyes to Maturi Pavilion, Sunday, at 4 p.m. The match marks the second-straight home event for the Gophers after a Wednesday night match against No. 16 Purdue.

ON THE DOCKET
Minnesota travels to Columbus, Ohio next Wednesday night to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be televised on Big Ten Network. Minnesota returns home on Saturday, Oct. 21, when the Gophers host the Wisconsin Badgers at 7:30 p.m. The match is also televised on BTN.

ABOUT IOWA
The Hawkeyes enter the Minnesota match with a 14-6 overall record and are 3-4 in Big Ten play. Iowa has played three teams since the last time it saw Minnesota, as the Hawkeyes beat Michigan (3-1), lost to Nebraska (3-0) and defeated Indiana (3-1) Wednesday night. Taylor Louis leads the team in kills and is seventh in the Big Ten with 239, to average 3.51 kills per set. Jess Janota follows Louis with 164 kills, while Claire Sheehan rounds out the top three with 154 kills. Annika Olsen is third in the Big Ten with 320 digs and averages 4.64 per set. Gabrielle Orr sits sixth in the conference for assists with 778, and averages 11.28 per set. As a team, the Hawkeyes are hitting .251, average 1.99 blocks per set and 15.12 digs per set.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Minnesota holds a 75-11 all-time record against the Iowa Hawkeyes, dating back to 1975.
The two teams already met once this season, as the Golden Gophers earned a 3-0 win, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19, on Sept. 30 in Iowa City, Iowa. Stephanie Samedy and Jasmyn Martin each had 13 kills, while Alexis Hart followed with 12. Molly Lohman and Regan Pittman each hit .583 and .438, respectively, and provided nine and seven kills. Samedy also led the Gophers with 11 digs for the double-double. Samantha Seliger-Swenson had 48 assists in the win. As a team, Minnesota hit .333 to Iowa's .248 and held a 55-42 kill advantage.

FRESHMEN MAKING THEIR MARK
Minnesota has four freshman seeing significant action within the Gopher lineup. Stephanie Samedy leads the team with 253 kills and is hitting .311. Regan Pittman, who red-shirted the 2016 campaign, started her collegiate career this season and is hitting .371 and averages 1.10 blocks per set. Jasmyn Martin and Sydney Kleinman have shared the load as outside hitters, while Lauren Barnes has played in all 62 sets and averages 2.03 digs per set. Samedy leads all Big Ten freshmen in kills per set, while Pittman ranks second among freshmen in hitting in blocks. Samedy and Barnes hold the league's fourth and seventh best dig marks among Big Ten freshmen.

LAST ACTION
Minnesota earned a 3-0 win over No. 16 Purdue, Wednesday night at Maturi Pavilion. The Golden Gophers took a 25-17, 25-21, 25-23 sweep over the Boilermakers. Stephanie Samedy had a team-best 13 kills and hit .355 in 31 attempts and added seven digs. Alexis Hart had 11 kill, hit .308 and had two aces, while Molly Lohman and Regan Pittman each had seven kills and hit .636 and .308. Pittman and Jasmyn Martin each led the Gophers with three blocks. As a team, the Gophers hit .298 and collected 45 kills. Purdue committed 18 attack errors and hit .224. The Boilermakers held a 54-51 dig advantage and outblocked the Gophers, 5-3.
