Gophers To Take on ITA Central Regionals

TOURNAMENT ITA CENTRAL REGIONAL TOURNAMENT HUB
The University of Minnesota women's tennis team is heading to Lawrence, Kan. to participate in the ITA Central Regional. The winners and select others will be able to qualify for the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The format of the tournament will see 128 singles participants take part in the regional competition. There will also be 64 doubles participants.
There will be consolation brackets that will form, players will also have opportunities to participate in the double elimination format. There will not be live set-by-set scoring.
PARTICIPANTS
All 11 Gophers on the active roster will take part in the ITA Central Regional. They will all be a part of the 128 singles bracket. Possible Gopher matchups could happen two rounds in. Cammy Frei and River Hart could meet one another if they both win their first two matches. The same goes for Camila Vargas Gomez and Mehvish Safdar.
Caroline Ryba and Caitlyn Merzbacher could meet after two matches and Annemarie Emme and Karyna Bihel could meet after their first two matches as well.
Barbara Mancera, Kalyssa Hall and Tina Kreinis round out the Gopher single participants.
In doubles, the Gophers will have four teams entered in the regional. Emme/Vargas have the possibility to meet up with Safdar/Mancera after two matches. Kreinis and Merzbacher pair up to take on their competition as well as Hart and Ryba.
HOW TO FOLLOW
The ITA Central Regional will be able to followed at a Tournament Hub on Kansas Athletics website. There will also be a livestream available for 12 courts. Six streams will be available for indoor courts, and six outdoor livestreams will be available as well. Those livestream links can be found at the bottom of the Tournament Hub page.
