Gophers senior Carlie Wagner has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both coaches and media covering the conference. The New Richland, Minn., native has twice earned All-Big Ten Second Team recognition.
After combining with Rachel Banham to form the nation's top scoring duo in 2015-16, Wagner led the team in scoring with an average of 19.1 points per game last season. She made a team-high 82 3-pointers.
Wagner is already in the top 10 for multiple categories in Minnesota's record book. Her 1,597 points are eighth on the all-time scoring list, and her 206 3-pointers rank fourth. Wagner's career scoring average of 16.6 points per game is the seventh best in program history.
Last season Wagner became the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-American in 11 years when she was named to the third team. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-Big Ten performer.
Big Ten Women's Basketball Week will continue with the release of coach interview videos on Tuesday, student-athlete profiles on Wednesday and student-athlete interview videos on Thursday.
